Due to presence of range of biologically active compounds, the fruits of T. chebula have been used in traditional medicine to combat a number of ailments of upper respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract and skin . These active compounds are effective in treating cancer and other diseases of the heart, nervous system, bones and joints.
Uses:-Terminalia chebula fruit extract is used externally for local application to chronic ulcers & wounds. It is gargled in stomatitis & inflammation of mucous membrane of mouth. It is mild & efficient laxative. It acts as dentifrice. It is useful in chronic diarrhea & dysentery, flatulence, vomiting, hiccups, colic and enlarged spleen & liver, in ophthalmia, paralysis, splenomagaly, piles, melancholia, leprosy, erysipelas, colitis, laryngitis.
