Bryonopsis laciniosa is a perennial tendril climber. It is a vine in the Cucurbitaceae family. The plant has a large, tuberous root and very slender, glabrous, often spotted, dark green stems and long internodes. The tendrils are bifid.
Shivlingi is used for the treatment of female infertility. It is a uterine tonic and increases the chances of conception in women suffering from infertility. It is a fertility-enhancing herb that is used in Ayurveda along with putative seeds. However, it has different Ayurvedic properties and based on these properties, it reduces the Kapa dosha. Therefore, if the patient has more symptoms of the enlarged or agitated cervix, Shivalingi is more beneficial.
Uses:- Bryonopsis laciniosa is medicinal plant and its leaves, fruits, seeds, roots, all are used for medicinal purpose. Whole plant is galactagogue and laxative. Plant is also used in venereal diseases. It belong to Bitter gourd family and the leaves of the plant are given in case of diabetes to control blood sugar. The leaves also exhibit styptic, antiseptic and astringent properties. The Powdered seeds and roots, are given to help conception in women.

Phytochemical screening was done for identification of active chemical constituents. Results concluded that identified compound contains steroids and when compared with standard it was revealed that compound is β-sito sterol and compound also contains some bitter principles as reported.
