Mangiferin (a pharmacologically active flavonoid, a natural xanthone C-glycoside) is extracted from Mango. In Ayurveda, one of its uses is clearing digestion and acidity due to pitta (heat). Mango is one of the most popular of all tropical fruits. Mangiferin, being a polyphenolic antioxidant and a glucosyl xanthone, has strong antioxidant, anti-lipid peroxidation, immunomodulation, cardiotonic, hypotensive, wound healing, antidegenerative, and antidiabetic activities.
Uses- Mangifera indica, a commonly used herb in ayurvedic medicine. It possesses antidiabetic, anti-oxidant, anti-viral, cardiotonic, hypotensive, and anti-inflammatory properties. Various effects like antibacterial, antifungal, anthelmintic, anti-parasitic, anti-tumor, anti-HIV, anti bone resorption, antispasmodic, antipyretic, antidiarrhoeal, antiallergic, immunomodulation, hypolipidemic, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, gastroprotective.
